Heh, attended a flag day today. It was for the APEX Day Rehabilitation Centre for the Elderly. I couldn't find the collection point at first, but after awhile I found it with some help. I would say my tin was only about 1/4 full, disappointing huh? However, selling flags isn't easy at all. After my many many years of "flag day-ing", I can say with confidence, that I know what are the types of people whom you'll meet when you sell flags to them. Let me explain further below.
The first type is usually the most straight forward type, or should I say the kind people. Usually, they'll come up to you and donate automatically. This type requires no talking or asking, all you have to do is be there with your tin and you'll get a few coins.
The second type is those who'll only donate when you open your mouth and ask them politely, if not, it'll be your lost because they'll just walk past. So for this type, you'll have to take the initiative to ask them. It is only when you ask them, that you receive donations.
The third type is those who'll only donate if they have any spare change with them. In this case, it's usually coins. For example when they buy something that costs $1.80, they'll receive 20 cents if they pay $2. That's when they'll "get rid" of the coins by donating. This happens only when you're lucky, otherwise there won't be any donations.
The fourth type is those who'll either smile and shake their head before saying no, or those who'll just smile and walk past you. There can be a few reasons as to why they won't donate. One of them is those who are talking on the phone. They won't donate because they're too busy talking on the phone. That is why you need to know who to ask for donations. While the other is because they are rushing for time, that is when they will ignore you.
The fifth type is those who'll just ignore you when you ask them for donations. Some may even pretend to not see you by walking away just to avoid having to donate. Haha, how ridiculous. For now, this may happen rather frequently because of the global economic crisis. People would rather keep the money for themselves in case of any emergencies than to donate to another charity organization. This, I can understand.
The last type is for me the most annoying type. They'll show you the sticker when you approach them to tell you that they've already donated. I really can't stand this. Can't they donate again? I would accept even a 10 cents coin from them. Seriously, I rather they smile and reject me politely than to show me this stupid "evidence" to show that they've already played their part, that is they've already donated. I can understand if they don't want to donate twice, but whats with that smile on their face and that "evidence"?
Anyway, that's all for now. Bye!

I'm someone who is shy, especially towards girls because all my life I've been studying in a all boys school. I only have a brother and almost all of my cousins are guys too, so I can't help it (: However, I really open up when I know my friends well enough, we'll do things together, have fun together and maybe even study together? haha
